Welcome to Enchanted Towns
Most settlements seem to center around the various mining operations around Skyrim and so I’m bringing you new ways to engage with these little areas and to properly house the miners and have more engagement with family life.
Features
What Awaits You…
- 16+ new quests
- These quests offer a variety of rewards for completion including enchanted weapons, foods with extended buffs, alchemical ingredients and rare potions
- One of these quests is a no hands-held mystery quest
- 4 current settlements expanded and 3 new ones created
- The expansions are created to be as compatible with other mods as possible
- Roughly 5 to 7 hours of extended gameplay
- Many of the books and journals will give you skill increases when reading them
- Over 20 journals and notes detailing information about the towns citizens, who they are and how they live
- Two very humble adventurer homes
- A secret and ancient temple located on Solstheim for you to discover. If you find yourself near Bujold’s Retreat, you might take a walk down the path and explore the strange rock.
- This mod aims to expand on mining in Skyrim with expansions to some of the current minds and newly added mining towns
- New quests are introduced to integrate the player into the areas and make them feel more lived in
- Journals that the player reads may increase a skill level depending on the book and who wrote it
- Riverwood’s navmesh was overhauled – there were triangles poking around and the NPCs were unable to cross boundaries
- If you use other mods that edit Riverwood, place under for their navmesh and it should work fine
- The scenes for Hrefna, Sondas and Tomir now happen in the new inn, The Crossing House in Darkwater Crossing – this is contingent on the scene packages playing when the player is in the same cell and the conditions are met for the two being in the same area
- Quests will have stage and global checks to avoid accidental spamming or duplication of trying to capture the quest again and enable markers/items so that the player can’t accidentally forward a quest and cause it to be incomplete or fail on accident
- NPCs are battle hardened and can defend themselves
Serenity on the border
Darkwater Crossing
- The town has been expanded to include an Inn, houses for everyone and a blacksmith Shop
- The Crossing House is the Inn and it’s now run by Sondas, which seemed to be indicated in the Creation Kit that he runs an inn and why he sells food.
- Crossing House:
- Has a room to rent
- Has a room for Sondas’s personal things and markers for Hrefna to help around the inn
- Travelers and Adventurers path from this location over to Riverwood and back again so you might see them along the roads
- Tomir and Hrefna have their own home and Hrefna hangs about the Inn during the day while Tomir works at the mine for a few hours and then stop at the inn for lunch and dinner.
- Meieran is an added NPC that also helps with farming and animal husbandry
- Generic Miners were added
- Darkwater Blacksmith is ran by Dorvul and his wife, Caersa. The shop is open from 8 am until 8 pm
- After found, Derkeethus now starts work at 9 am for 8 hours and heads to the inn for a bit after work and then sleeps at home. He shares a house with Wishes-to-Flowers
- Wishes-to-Flowers is a local Argonian fisherman who will sell you fish related items
- Both Argonians can be married
- Quests:
- Bring Hrefna a doll to play with and she’ll reward you with a treasure map. Follow the directions and dig at the water’s edge for a chest of random goodies – some gems, gold and a book to increase alchemy
- Find Meieran’s lost cow and return it for some gold
- Return Wishes-to-Flower’s lost necklace for a necklace of your own
- Find Dorvul’s ingots and ores outside town and return his shipment. He’ll reward you with an enchanted sword appropriate to your level

Unique and Mysterious
Kolskggr Mine
This mine has been re-imagined into a proper location for mining and starting up a town. By using Dwemer architecture, Kolskeggr can feel part of the Reach in a new way that blends with the hold’s backdrop. The citizens had to lock their doors when the Forsworn came to visit, but if you can help clear them out, they’ll open up their businesses to you.
- Re-created with Dwemer architecture! Housing is built into the mountain with where the other supposed miners must have lived and worked before the Forsworn invaded
- The farmhouse was removed and replaced. The interior is set up nearly the same as the original. All items are as they were, with some statics added for ambience
- After the mine is cleared, the businesses will open and new miners will show up to work
- Businesses:
- Open from 8 am until 8 pm
- Malstien and Jaline tend to the general store that also stocks herbs and potions.
- Dusmok runs the smithy and sells a variety of armaments and smithing supplies
- People:
- A shared home by two miners that are hired to help work the mines after they are re-opened
- Loufin and his wife Sorna
- Ameus and his wife Dulrandi
- Dulrandi and Sorna feed the chickens in town and tend to a variety of chores around the small settlement
- Loufin and Ameus will work in the mines
- A shared home by two miners that are hired to help work the mines after they are re-opened
- Quests:
- Talk to Dulrandi for the help she needs
- Sorna has a task at hand if you’re up for it
Cozy Comfort
Northwind Mine
This area was recently built on the south side of the mine. Homes and businesses have been setup in order to restart the mine operations. A new wing of the mine is also open.
- After you clear out Northwind mine, talk to Torik , the settlement’s mine foreman
- Torik and his sister will return to the mine to work along with some hired miners
- You can sell ore to Torik
- He will have a variety of jobs to take care of to help the villagers
- You will find iron, ebony and even some moonstone inside the mine
- The miners here are all equipped to handle any baddies who want to try and move back in – this also means they can fight you so don’t start something you can’t finish
- Two tunnels have been excavated and you will find the remnants of the hagravens that once nested there along with Reachman artifacts
- This is a lore-based restoration based on in-game information and tidbits from other ES titles.
Businesses:
- A smith to help keep weapons sharp
- A healer’s hut to keep the miners healthy
- A general store to import fresh foods
- Homes for the miners and town workers
Quests & Extras
- Journal entries and notes about the citizens and their lives
- Three quests about the town – one is given by Maelia, one from Bera and the other is found in the mine when you explore
- If you help Bera, she’ll be a candidate for marriage
- Lots of goodies to loot from the mine
- Kjeldr went a little crazy one winter and bought himself an enchanter for his shop you can use. No one else seems to need to use it, so you might as well put it to work
People:
- The Matriarch’s
- Alma Frost-Reed – matriarch of Northwind Mine, widow of the founder, commands respect without raising her voice.
- Ysolna Frost-Reed – her daughter; a quiet dreamer who keeps ledgers, writes letters for miners, and sometimes wanders the ridge at twilight.
- The Blacksmiths
- Brond Ironvein – the blacksmith; steady, iron-willed man whose forge hums at dawn.
- Halla Ironvein – his wife, works around the forge and watches their son. Visits with the others and sometimes takes food to the miners
- Arlon – their son who collects shiny stones and pesters miners for tales. His dog, Tanny, follows him around.
- The Healer’s House
- Svanir Hollow-Hand – herbalist and bone-setter, gentle but grimly humorous.
- Maelia Hollow-Hand – his apprentice and niece, bright-eyed and always smelling of juniper; secretly writes songs about travelers she treats.
- The Feldspar’s
- Torik Feldspar – lifelong miner with a missing thumb and a laugh that rattles the rafters.
- Bera Feldspar – his sister, practical and sharp-tongued, cooks for the crews and keeps a small shrine to Kyne in the window.
- The Trading Post
- Kjeldr Fallowmere – the storekeep; broad-shouldered, good-humored, and entirely too proud of his “imports” (which are usually just old gear cleaned up and resold). Once a caravan guard, he settled here after losing a leg to a bandit’s axe. Keeps the shelves neat, his stories tall, and his prices fair—most days.
- Runa Fallowmere – his daughter and sharp-eyed clerk. Handles the ledger, trades herbs with the healer, and knows everyone’s business. She’s the one folks actually fear shortchanging.
A simple addition
Riverwood Mine
- Created to be highly compatible with mods that edit the main town. All the extra features are located outside of town and additions can be disabled to the player’s discretion
- You can disable Alvor’s supply cart
- You can disable the added wares for the Trader
- You can disable the added decorations for the Inn
- All of the flora changed from dead to alive will be overwritten by any other overhaul that touches the same one and there have been no added flora to give you power over choices of your game
- Sigrid helps around the forge and walks around town. She’ll sell extra crafting supplies if you invest with Alvor such as sabre cat pelts and other, more rare items.
- Please note the game has the SEQ bug and you will have to save and reload once you have invested for her to show her dialogue for the wares.
- A new farmer is here! Kasanna will sell you fresh produce or you can help her at the little farm and she’ll pay you for your work. Her house is located in the back of Riverwood, just outside the gate
- Dead flora replaced with live flora and added flora and insects
- Riverwood Mine is now open and in full operation. You’ll find the foreman inside with two miners. It contains corundum
- The foreman is an affable fellow who will buy your corundum.
- Salin, outside the mine, manages the bookkeeping and like Carwyn, will buy corundum from you. She also keeps the smelter working
- The ores here last longer than the usual ones simply because I found it to be wasteful and considering there’s only two corundum mines in Skyrim… I thought it’d be fun. See also: I never play a thief and want more ways to earn gold that won’t require me to steal
- Updated a variety of decorations to add ambience
- Fixed all the navmesh issues
- You can move into Stonewater Cabin if you want. It’s set up as though it were an NPC home so you’ll have things to loot.. Or keep in place. There’s storage and a player bed with some simple crafting stations; a smithing bench, temper bench and alchemy lab. A cozy cabin just for the starter and without excess.
- To obtain: simply talk to Carwyn about purchasing the home. It costs 250 septims.
- Quests:
- Faendal’s Gloves: he left his gloves in the mine. Return them for Faendal’s book on Archery which will increase your skill
- Dorthe left her doll near Stonewater Cabin, return it for some helpful herbs
- Orgnar’s ale batch needs to be delivered – you can pick it up at Alvor’s and be rewarded with an increase to your barter skill
- Hilde would appreciate someone returning her book on Dragons. She’ll offer some wolf pelts in exchange
- Gerdur’s letter – take her letter to Adrianne in Whiterun. Adrianne will reward you with a ring to increase your blacksmithing skills.
Warmth in the Cold
Stonehills
-
- The mine has more ores to chip away at
- There are now proper homes for the workers here along with cut NPCs to flesh out the settlement’s story
- Jesper, and Teeba-Ei each carry a key to the Stonehills Longhouse which houses the two men
- Argi Farseer has a house and is restored to the area. She shares her house with Swanhvir.
- Argi feeds the chickens in the morning and will visit about town such as going to see Chidra in her alchemist hut
- Swanhvir’s mining package was changed to 8 am until 6 pm and then she takes wood to Argi’s house to keep warm
- Talib, Gestur’s son, is restored to his own home and even has scenes with Gestur in the mine
- Stonehills now has a blacksmith ran by Aleuc and Sybil Livingston. They keep the miner’s pick axes sharpened and will help you on your adventures
- Aleuc works at the forge and is available to trade from 8 am until 8 pm
- He will sell you non-enchanted equipment along with crafting materials and even have building materials for your Hearthfire home
- Sybil helps about the shop outside and manages the wares
- A modest ingredient shop has also been added: Chidra’s Herbs & More. Chidra, also called ‘Chiri’, is a Khajiit who was given permission to open a shop outside of the major cities, runs the business with her partner, Tamshur.
- This shop is open from 8 am until 8 pm
- She sells basic herbs with some imports from Raven Rock and only basic soul gems and a few Curios
- Tamshur goes to the workshop area near the mine around noon for a few hours to chop wood and do Khajiit things
- Quests:
- There is a hidden quest that will not show up in your log. The clues are all around the town in the form of notes. All of these notes have an asterisk next to it so you know which note is part of the hidden quest and what notes are generic ones. After you put together the information, you’ll be able to find a treasure box filled with goodies.
- The notes and books will also teach you a variety of skills in relation to the author
- A total of six journals and/or notes will tell you all you need to learn
